French Wins 2022 Stone Book AwardHoward W. French, a distinguished foreign correspondent and professor of journalism at Columbia, recently won the Museum of African American History's 2022 Stone Book Award for Born in Blackness: Africa, Africans, and the Making of the Modern World, 1471 to the Second World War. Wins ONA's 2022 Impact AwardS. Mitra Kalita, a 2000 graduate of Columbia's Master of Science Program, won the Online News Association (ONA)'s 2022 Impact Award, which honors "a trailblazing individual whose work in digital journalism and dedication to innovation exhibits a substantial impact on the industry." Formerly a SVP at CNN Digital, Kalita recently co-founded the new media company URL Media, a network of Black and Brown owned media organizations that share content, distribution and revenues to increase their long-term sustainability.
