In his first Dean's Welcome Address to the Columbia Journalism School class, Dean Cobb told new students "It is our responsibility to tell the truth, to expose demagoguery, to work in the interests of the public welfare and to do so dispassionately, continuously and in the best interests of our aspirations as a society." Learn more about Dean Cobb HERE.ALUMNI SPOTLIGHTCasey Parks ('18 M.A. Politics) Publishes Diary of a Misfit Casey Parks, a 2018 graduate of the Master of Arts Program's Politics Concentration, will have her first book, Diary of a Misfit: A Memoir and a Mystery, published in August by Alfred A. Knopf/Random House. In Diary of a Misfit, Parks follows the mystery of a stranger’s past that forces her to reckon with her own sexuality, her fraught Southern identity, her tortured yet loving relationship with her mother, and the complicated role of faith in her life.
