Professor Helen Benedict Publishes New Book About the Stories of Refugees

Helen Benedict, a longtime professor of journalism at Columbia, has published Map of Hope and Sorrow, a new book co-authored with Syrian refugee and writer Eyad Awwadawnan. Their book presents the stories of five refugees who have endured long and dangerous journeys from the Middle East and Africa to Greece. Professor Benedict teaches such Master of Science Program classes as "Literary Journalism" and "Writing Social Justice With Style." Learn more HERE.

Wufei Yu ('19 M.S.) Wins 2022 AAJA Sports Reporting Award

Wufei Yu, a 2019 graduate of Columbia's Master of Science Program, recently won the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA)'s 2022 Excellence in Sports Reporting Award for the Runners World story “172 Runners Started This Ultramarathon – 21 Of Them Never Came Back," co-written with Will Ford.  Born and raised in Beijing, Yu is an English-Chinese bilingual journalist who reports on sports, outdoor adventures, New Mexico and the Western U.S., and everything related to China.
