Jordan ('23 M.S.) Publishes His Master's Project in TIME

Jordan Gonsalves, a current student in Columbia's Part-time Master of Science Program, recently published his master's project in TIME Magazine about a U.S. Army cadet who was banned from continuing his military career because of his HIV diagnosis and is now suing the U.S. Army and Department of Defense. All Part-time M.S. students report their master's projects, which are ambitious works of journalism, in the summer semester after the first academic year. Read Jordan's story HERE.

Professor Emily Bell Teaches About Information Warfare Reporting

Professor Emily Bell, the Director of Columbia Journalism School's Tow Center for Digital Journalism, currently offers the popular Master of Science Program class "Information Warfare Reporting." A leading thinker, commentator, and strategist on digital journalism, Professor Bell teaches students in her class how to understand and navigate the disinformation and propaganda that abounds in digital media. Valerie Hopkins ('13 M.A. Politics) Wins Marie Colvin Award for Foreign Correspondence

Master of Arts Program graduate Valerie Hopkins ('13 M.A. Politics) recently received the Newswomen's Club of New York's 2022 Marie Colvin Award for Foreign Correspondence for her reporting on the Russia-Ukraine War for The New York Times. Read her award-winning reporting HERE
