"I think the best reason to come to journalism school is because the life of a journalist is really the most joyous and the most interesting and exciting that I can imagine. You get to travel, you get to ask impertinent questions of powerful people, you get to stand in the middle of the public square in the midst of tumult and document our history as it unfolds in front of us."

Steve Coll, Dean and Henry R. Luce Professor of Journalism, Columbia Journalism School
Columbia Journalism School is now welcoming
applications for the 2022-23 academic year for all of our graduate
degree programs. At a time of historic social, political, environmental, and economic change, we invite you to apply to join the Columbia community and gain the reporting, writing, and multimedia skills to tell vital and compelling stories that inform people around the world about the important issues that we face.
Many paths lead to Columbia Journalism School, where our different degree programs are designed for a diverse range of students, from those with little to no experience to those who have been working in the field for several years and want to enhance their skills in order to advance to a new level in the world of journalism. Students come from across the United States and from all over the world. Some are recent college graduates and some have worked for several years in journalism or in different professions. Our students also come from a range of undergraduate majors and from a variety of undergraduate institutions, such as large public universities, liberal arts colleges, private universities, historically Black colleges and universities, music and arts conservatories, and engineering and design schools.
